JOINT STATEMENT OF CANADIAN AND US DEPARTMENTS OF JUSTICE

May 13, 2003 -- "The Minister of Justice, the Honourable Martin Cauchon, met today with US Attorney General John Ashcroft as part of their ongoing dialogue on cross-border issues.

Our countries enjoy a close working relationship, and the Minister and the Attorney General often take opportunities to discuss these important issues, most recently during the Paris meeting of the G8 Justice Ministers.

Minister Cauchon and Attorney General Ashcroft today discussed the full range of Canada/US issues, including counterterrorism, counternarcotics, extradition and mutual legal assistance."
