ONTARIO JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED



OTTAWA

, October 24, 1996 -- The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Allan Rock, today announced the following appointment:

Danielle Marie Marguerite Letellier Genesee of Burlington is appointed a judge of the Ontario Court (General Division), Family Court Branch, in Hamilton. She replaces Madam Justice P.H. Wallace, who was transferred to Simcoe to replace Mr. Justice R.J. Flinn, who has chosen to become a supernumerary judge.

Madam Justice Genesee graduated from the University of Ottawa in civil law in 1976 and in common law in 1977. She was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1980. She has since been practising family law and wills, estate and real estate law in Hamilton. From 1980 to 1990, she also acted as a part-time francophone Crown prosecutor. Prior to being called to the Bar, Madam Justice Genesee was a legal translator for the Legislative Counsel's Office for the Government of Ontario.

Madam Justice Genesee is a member of L'Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario.

This appointment is effective immediately.
