ONTARIO JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA , January 11, 2001 -- The Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:

The Honourable Madam Justice Mary Lou Benotto , a judge of the Superior Court of Justice, is appointed Senior Judge of the Family Court Branch of the Superior Court of Justice. She replaces Mr. Justice David M. Steinberg, who served as Senior Judge of the Family Branch since 1985, and resumes his duties as a judge of the Family Court Branch in Hamilton. Madam Justice Benotto was first appointed to the Superior Court of Justice in 1996.

These appointments are effective immediately.
