QUEBEC JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, December 6, 2001 -- The Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

The Honourable Benoît Morin of the Superior Court of Quebec is appointed a Judge of the Court of Appeal of Quebec in Quebec City. He replaces The Honourable R. Pidgeon who was appointed Associate Chief Justice of the Superior Court of Quebec in Quebec City.

Mr. Justice Morin received a Bachelor of Laws from Laval University in 1964 and was admitted to the Bar of Quebec the folowing year. He was appointed to the Superior Court of Quebec in 1994.

This appointment is effective immediately.
