APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED TO THE FEDERAL COURT OF CANADA

OTTAWA, December 17, 2001 – The Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:

The Honourable Marc Nadon of the Federal Court of Canada - Trial Division is appointed a Judge of the Federal Court of Canada - Appeal Division. He replaces Mr. Justice A.M. Linden, who elected to become a supernumerary judge.

Mr. Justice Nadon received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sherbrooke in 1973. He was appointed to the Federal Court of Canada - Trial Division in 1993.

The Honourable Denis Pelletier of the Federal Court of Canada - Trial Division is appointed a Judge of the Federal Court of Canada - Appeal Division. He replaces Mr. Justice J.W. Robertson, who was appointed to the New Brunswick Court of Appeal.

Mr. Justice Pelletier received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Saskatchewan in 1980. He was appointed to the Federal Court of Canada - Trial Division in 1999.

These appointments are effective immediately.
