Aluminium Technology Centre

The goal of the Aluminium Technology Centre (ATC) is to provide Canadian industry with the technical support and expertise required to develop value-added aluminium-based products and services.

Its creation comes as a result of the recommendations from the Canadian Aluminium Industry Technological Roadmap. Located on the "Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC)" campus, in Québec's Saguenay - Lac-Saint-Jean region, the establishment of the ATC is the result of the NRC's and Economic Development Canada's willingness to actively contribute to the development of technology clusters in activity sectors that show promise for Canada in terms of growth, productivity and job creation.

It combines research and development activities for leading-edge aluminium-based materials manufacturing technology, as well as process simulation and instrumentation used in the transformation of aluminium into finished and semi-finished products.

The ATC's liaison and administrative office works in close collaboration with the sector's various stakeholders in order to ensure that scientific and technical information is shared and distributed, and to provide support to specialized training programs, as well as to organize forums, workshops, symposiums and other trade activities.
