Health Canada's Tobacco Control Programme

The Government of Canada's Federal Tobacco Control Strategy (FTCS) is championed by many parties working collaboratively towards reducing, possibly eliminating, tobacco use. Health Canada's Tobacco Control Programme (TCP) plays a leadership role in implementing the Strategy.

The Tobacco Control Programme is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Tobacco Act (1997) as well as developing the policies and programmes needed to support the objectives of the FTCS.

The Tobacco Control Programme includes the following offices:

First Nations and Inuit tobacco control programmes are administered by Health Canada's First Nations and Inuit Health Branch.
