Justice Partnership and Innovation Fund

Introduction

The Justice Partnership and Innovation Fund is designed to provide support for short-term, innovative projects that promote improvements to the justice system and contribute to the development of policy and program initiatives in the Department. The overall objectives of the Fund are:

• To increase the capacity of departmental partners to develop innovative solutions to emerging justice related issues;
  
• To develop a more informed and engaged public and legal community with regards to the law and the legal system;
  
• To contribute to policy development in the Department as it serves a changing society.

Funding priorities and activities will support the development and implementation of innovative approaches to governmental/departmental legal and socio-legal substantive areas and will support innovation and partnerships.

Considerations

• The same project will not be funded for more than three consecutive years.
  
• The decision regarding funding may take approximately twelve weeks after the Department has received the completed application. If the application is not complete, the applicant will be contacted and asked to provide the missing information.
  
• The Justice Partnership and Innovation Fund undergoes an extensive evaluation every five years. Your project information will be held on file after your project's completion and will be included as part of this evaluation. In the event that your project is chosen for follow-up, departmental officials may contact you to request your participation in the evaluation.
  
• As funds are limited, it is not possible to fund all projects that meet the eligibility criteria. Projects that demonstrate that they can best meet the information needs of the Department will be given priority consideration.
