Home Newsroom 2006 News releases 2006-07-21: Statement from Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day on the death of Constable Robin Cameron

Statement from Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day on the death of Constable Robin Cameron

July 21, 2006 -- ”Today, on behalf of the Government of Canada, I wish to pay tribute to Constable Robin Cameron who lost her life in tragic circumstances while serving the citizens of her community and her country. Constable Cameron served with the RCMP for five years and will be remembered by her colleagues for her dedication to the Force, her courage and her loyalty to her fellow officers.

Constable Cameron will also be remembered as a loving mother and daughter and our thoughts go out to her family, especially her daughter and her parents who have suffered the greatest loss.

Let us never forget the high price paid by Constable Cameron, the sacrifice she made to protect her community and the fact that the security and safety of Canadians should not be taken for granted.

Once again, let me extend my deepest sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of an outstanding officer.”
