Nunavut Call for Proposals

A new fund -- The Crime Prevention Action Fund replaces the Community Mobilization Program and is seeking proposals for projects.

The goals are to :

  • Address the root causes of crime such as abuse, violence, lack of parenting skills, drug and alcohol abuse.
  • Support the development of comprehensive community initiatives to address crime and victimization issues.
  • Enhance the capacities of communities to decrease risk factors/increase protective factors related to crime and victimization;
  • Develop, tools and resources, best practices & evidence of what works in crime prevention;

Priorities include:

  • Aboriginal people/communities
  • children and youth at high risk
  • Populations at high risk of crime and victimization
  • family violence

Deadline for funding applications is May 31, 2006.

** To allow for review and processing, please plan to start activities no earlier than September 1, 2006.

** Community based non-governmental organizations can qualify for grant funding to a maximum of $100K and contribution funding to a maximum of $200K.
