The College

The following organizations are involved in emergency preparedness and management research, planning or services.

Canadian government

  • Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS)
    CSIS’s role is to investigate threats, analyze information and produce intelligence. It then reports to, and advises, the Government of Canada, so as to protect the country and its citizens. Key threats include terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, espionage, foreign interference and cyber-tampering affecting critical infrastructure.
  • CANUTEC - Canadian Transport Emergency Center (Transport Canada)
    CANUTEC is operated by Transport Canada to assist emergency response personnel in handling emergencies related to the transportation of dangerous goods. This website describes their services and data resources, as well as regulatory requirements for incident reporting.
  • CBRN Research and Technology Initiative
    The Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Research and Technology Initiative (CRTI) funds science and technology projects that strengthen Canada's preparedness for, prevention of, and response to potential CBRN terrorist attacks.   • Center for Topographic Information (Natural Resources Canada)

  • Counter-Terrorism Coordination and Health Information Networks (Public Health Agency of Canada)

  • National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (United States)

  • Earth Observatory (NASA) - Natural Hazards (United States)
    The Earth Observatory publishes satellite images and scientific information primarily related to climate and environmental events. The Natural Hazards section of the website provides satellite images with descriptions for several types of natural hazards from 2001 to the present.
  • National Emergency Management Association
    The National Emergency Management Association (NEMA) is a non-partisan, non-profit association in the United States. The website provides information about NEMA, its conferences, services and links to similar organizations.
  • Natural Hazards Center (University of Colorado)
    The Natural Hazards Research and Applications Center collects and shares information and research concerning the social science and policy aspects of disasters. This website offers numerous online reports and papers, outlines the projects and scholarships of the Center, contains categorized and annotated website resources, and allows search of their extensive HazLit library bibliography.
  • Office of the Fire Commissioner (British Columbia)
    The Office of the Fire Commissioner is the senior authority in British Columbia for fire safety and prevention.   • Operation Lifesaver
