Sandy HayGlass

Regional Director, Prairie Region

Sandy HayGlass was appointed regional director of the Prairie region in July 2005.

In 1990, she began work at the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) as the safety officer for the Grain Research Laboratory. She later became the manager of health and safety for all of the CGC. In this position, she developed a number of procedures and guidelines, as well as the CGC's Occupational Health and Safety Policy. She worked with regional safety advisors to establish local health and safety programs and was responsible for emergency preparations, planning and training in all regions.

Subsequently she has worked as manager of Administration section and most recently as policy analyst and strategic planning officer. In the policy area she coordinated a number of policy-related documents and, in consultation with other Agriculture and Agrifood Canada portfolio members, was working on the development of the imported grain protocol (or border notification system).

Sandy HayGlass holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry from Queen's University in Kingston. Prior to joining the CGC, she worked in the private sector in the areas of quality control and health and safety.
