Michael Edney, PhD

Research Scientist
Program Manager, Applied Barley Research
Grain Research Laboratory

Michael Edney came to the Canadian Grain Commission as a postdoctoral fellow in 1988. Two years later, he was appointed the Grain Research Laboratory's (GRL) first feed grain research scientist. Michael Edney became the program manager of Applied Barley Research in 1994. He is currently chair of the Barley and Oat Subcommittee and a member of the executive of the Prairie Registration Recommending Committee for Grain. Born in Calgary, Alberta, he holds an Bachelor of Science (Honours) in biology and a master's degree in poultry nutrition from the University of Saskatchewan. Michael Edney earned his doctorate in malting and brewing science from the Technical University of Munich in Germany.
