Debbie C. Sobering

Program Manager, Analytical Services
Grain Research Laboratory

Debbie Sobering has managed Analytical Services since 1998. As program manager she coordinates the analytical testing of Canadian wheat crops through annual harvest surveys and cargo monitoring. Debbie Sobering began working at the Grain Research Laboratory in 1982, first as an analytical development research technician working on the development of near-infrared reflectance (NIR), transmittance spectroscopy and chemical techniques for grain analysis, and the evaluation of new instruments. Then in 1990, as a nitrogen and rapid testing methods chemist, she supervised the total nitrogen and protein testing program. Working with research scientist Phil Williams, she specialized in research projects utilizing NIR and transmittance spectroscopy and evaluated new and prototype NIR instruments including the first whole grain analyzers. Debbie Sobering has a Bachelor of Science (1981) degree from the University of Winnipeg.

The CGC has a bibliographic database of scientific papers by GRL staff. For Debbie Sobering's scientific papers, search the Bibliography of Scientific Papers.
