Murray Hanson

Murray Hanson began his career with the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) in 1976 as an assistant grain inspector in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Prior to his career with the CGC and during the course of his post-secondary education, he also worked in the private sector of the grain industry.

Murray Hanson became a grain inspector in 1981 and worked in this capacity until 1994. He has worked in many locations across the country, including as inspector-in-charge at the Port of Churchill.

In 1995, he accepted the position of operations supervisor for the Winnipeg Service Centre. In 1999, the Brandon Service Centre was placed under his direct supervision. In his current capacity, he is responsible for the co-ordination and monitoring of all inspection and weighing activities that take place in the province.

Murray Hanson has represented the CGC on several Canadian International Grain Institute programs, including the Third International Durum Wheat program and the Fifth International Malt and Malting Barley program. He is the management co-chair of the Prairie Region Health and Safety Committee and has also acted as regional director of the Prairie Region on numerous occasions.
