About Youth Justice

Information about the structure of the youth justice system in Canada and about the roles and responsibilities of the federal, provincial and territorial governments and other youth justice partners.

The Government of Canada's Youth Justice Renewal Initiative was launched in May 1998. Since then, progress has been made in establishing a fair and effective youth justice system. The government's commitment to this Initiative is reflected in the $206 million that was allocated, in the 1999–2000 federal budget, for the implementation of the Initiative over its first three years
