Links to the CGC web site

Generally, Government of Canada institutions encourage third parties to link to their web sites. Sites wishing to link to the Canadian Grain Commission's web site, therefore, do not need to request permission to do so. We do, however, ask that you follow these linking practices.

• Use only text links for linking to the CGC's Web site. Do not link and/or use the official symbols of the CGC or Government of Canada as navigational aids.

As a service to our visitors, the CGC provides links to other web sites. These links are not an endorsement of the organization or a rating of the content of the sites to which they are made.

If you wish to request that the CGC provide a link to your site from our site, please review the criteria that follow before submitting your request. Decisions to post links on this site are subject to these criteria:

• Your site features agricultural content.

• The creation of a link does not provide unfair competitive advantage through on-line endorsements of third party interests. (Please note that links created within the context of a Collaborative Arrangement are not considered an endorsement or providing an unfair competitive advantage.)

• Your site is not considered inappropriate due to its content or its affiliations.

Privacy Notice

The Government of Canada and the Canadian Grain Commission are committed to providing visitors with web sites that respect their privacy. The following summarizes the privacy policy and practices on the Canadian Grain Commission Web site.

• The Canadian Grain Commission Web site does not automatically gather any specific personal information from users, such as name, phone number or email address. We would only obtain this type of information if you supply it by sending us an email or registering in a secure portion of the site.

• All personal information created, held or collected by the Canadian Grain Commission is protected under the federal Privacy Act. This means that at any point of collection you will be asked for consent to collect your information, and you will be informed of the purpose for which it is being collected and how to exercise your right of access to that information.

• The Canadian Grain Commission employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. This software receives and records the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer that has contacted our Web site, the date and time of the visit and the pages visited. We make no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of individuals visiting our site unless an attempt to damage the site has been detected.

• The Canadian Grain Commission does not normally use "cookies" to track how our visitors use this site or to determine sites previously visited. The system will notify you before any cookies are used so that you may refuse them. (A "cookie" is a file that may be placed on your hard drive without your knowledge by a Web site to allow it to monitor your use of the site.)

• Information on individual visitors is used by the Canadian Grain Commission employees who need to know the information in order to respond to a request or to ensure the security of this system. We only share the information given with another government department if the inquiry relates to that department.
