Emergency Management Branch Library

The College

Emergency Management Branch Library’s collection of books, journals and audiovisual/electronic materials is dedicated to the following topics:

  • Business continuity planning
  • Cyber security
  • Emergency preparedness training and exercises
  • Geographic information systems
  • Natural, technological and human-caused hazards
  • Risk management and communication
  • Search and rescue
  • Terrorism and CBRN events

Our resources include on-site access to many online article indexes, licensed databases and a great variety of full text electronic journals.

Services are offered to the faculty and students of the Canadian Emergency Management College, and the departmental staff of PSEPC, the Correctional Service of Canada and the National Parole Board.

By registering with the library, students may borrow materials, watch DVDs and videos, browse through our periodicals and find the answers to reference questions. After attending courses at the College, students may choose to continue their link with the library to borrow directly from us once they return to their communities.

Loan period

Internal loan: 2 days while the student is in residence at the College
External loan: 28 days

Hours of service

Open Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Computers

Two public area computers may be used to conduct research using:

  • The library catalogue
  • Any of the online article indexes and databases to which the library subscribes
  • The World Wide Web

The Emergency Management Branch Library is part of the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada library network, linked together with the Main Library in Ottawa by a shared computerized catalogue. We do not lend directly to the general public but external clients wishing to borrow materials may ask for an inter-library loan through their business, university or public library.
