Re: Review of Part III of the Canada Labour Code

As a small trucking company we fall under the Federal guidelines instead of Provincial. I do not know what changes are going to happen under the new laws but one rumour I have heard is that the work week would be changed to four days a week. As a trucking company we are completely against this as we are already having enough problems finding drivers and our customers are open Monday to Friday and not on weekends. This would cause us severe hardship. We also do not agree with having more weeks of holidays for employees. These would of course be paid holidays to the employee. There is only so much we can afford to payout and things are not easy right now with the freight rates and fuel prices. We need a break not more expenses!

I also do not agree with the fact that an employee may quit without giving us any notice but if we want to dismiss them we need to give them two weeks notice or two weeks pay.
