Laws and Regulations

The legislative mandate of the Military Police Complaints Commission is found in Part IV of the National Defence Act, "Complaints about or by Military Police."

The following regulations under the National Defence Act are also relevant to the Commission's activities:

Complaints about the Conduct of Members of the Military Police Regulations, and the Military Police Professional Code of Conduct.

The Rules of Procedure for Hearings Before the Military Police Complaints Commission, S.O.R./02-241 outline the procedure to be followed by all persons involved in a hearing before the Military Police Complaints Commission.

The Commission is subject to the provisions of other legislation, including the Access to Information Act, the Privacy Act and the Official Languages Act.
