Building Codes
NRC operates a national code centre that supports the development of the National Building Code and other national model codes on which construction regulation across Canada is based.
The National Construction Codes (six in total) are used as models for virtually all building and fire regulations in Canada.
The Codes establish the minimum requirements for a safe and healthy built environment and are the product of a unique partnership between thousands of industry practitioners, construction technology experts and provincial/territorial regulators.
The NRC Institute for Research in Construction publishes the National Construction Codes, which are an indispensable source of information for building, fire and plumbing officials, educators and construction professionals.
