MEMORANDA OF UNDERSTANDING (MOUs) / ARRANGEMENTSThe Canadian and International Industrial Security Directorate (CIISD) is mandated under the Government Security Policy (GSP) to negotiate international bilateral Industrial Security MOUs/Arrangements with other nations. It is primarily through these negotiations that CIISD briefs other nations on all aspects of the Canadian Industrial Security Program (ISP). These MOUs are essential to international trade in that many nations, including Canada, will not release Classified information and assets to another country unless there is a formal bilateral Industrial Security MOU in place which ensures that the information and assets will be adequately safeguarded against unauthorized disclosure. CIISD participates in a number of international industrial security
committees. The primary focus of these committees is to resolve security
issues and to standardize international industrial security protocols,
and where possible, to streamline security procedures. Participation
in these committees ensures that issues are being addressed from a Canadian
perspective. As well, it facilitates Canadian industry's international
participation in classified contracting and marketing activities. |
