The Law Society of Alberta is the self governing body for Alberta’s lawyers, whose mandate is to regulate the profession in the public interest. As a regulator, the LSA sets standards and enforces those standards for Alberta lawyers.
The menu on the left will assist lawyers and the public in finding information about the LSA. This includes the core documents and forms needed to practise law as well as model policies, publications and any new information for Alberta lawyers. The public will find information about the LSA, including the Code of Professional Conduct which outlines ethics that all Alberta lawyers must adhere to. This site also includes information about complaints, public conduct hearings, news releases and contact information for various LSA departments.
Alberta Legal Community Welcomes Aboriginal Law Students The Law Society of Alberta welcomed six aboriginal law students to the Alberta legal community. The orientation was part of the Aboriginal Summer law Student Placement Program, launched earlier this year by the Equality, Equity and Diversity committee. (Read More) Territorial Mobility Agreement Opens Door to the North Joining the territorial mobility agreement will increase access to justice throughout Canada's north. At the June convocation, the Law Society of Alberta entered the agreement, therefore increasing access to justice in the north. Being part of the agreement opens the door for Alberta practitioners to provide legal services. (Read More)
Law Society of Alberta Staff Collect Food for Interfaith Food Bank
In preparation for the fall, staff at the Law Society of Alberta finished collecting 3,981 items for the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank. (Read More)
