On an international level, Canada's allies recognize the Canadian and International Industrial Security Directorate (CIISD) as the Designated Security Authority (DSA) for industrial security for Canada.

When a foreign nation is considering a Canadian private sector organization for participation in a Classified contract/program/project, the Security Officials of that nation will contact CIISD to determine whether the organization has the necessary security clearances to participate in the program/contract. In the case of the United States, they may also require that the organization be certified in the U.S./Canada Joint Certification Program.

	NATO The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, comprised of 26 nations, was formed for the purpose of uniting military efforts for their collective defence.
	MOUs The Canadian and International Industrial Security Directorate (CIISD) is mandated under the Government Security Policy (GSP) to negotiate international bilateral Industrial Security MOUs/Arrangements with other nations.
	TRANSMISSION OF CLASSIFIED / PROTECTED MATERIALS The transfer of Classified information and assets between Canadian and foreign governments and industry must be arranged by the (CIISD) through government-to-government channels.
	REQUESTS FOR VISITS A Request for Visit (RFV) (PDF 500KB) form is required when a security cleared individual must visit a government/commercial organization in Canada or abroad.
