"O" Division (province of Ontario)
was not established as a separate entity until 1920, but the Force’s association with the part of Ontario which today constitutes "O" Division dates back to 1873. During the 1920's and 30's, there were only two or three Sergeants in Toronto, but with the outbreak of the Second World War, the strength in Toronto began to increase considerably.

The Division is headed by an Assistant Commissioner (A/Commr.). As the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Division, the A/Commr.’s responsibilities encompass two areas, namely criminal operations and detachments. Please click here to see A/Commr. Michel Séguin's information.

Throughout Ontario, "O" Division, the RCMP as the federal police service, is committed to the enforcement of federal statutes, investigational assistance and protective security to other federal departments and law enforcement agencies. The Federal Mandate is to pro-actively investigate major organized crime groups involved in criminal activity at the provincial, national and international levels. In Ontario, RCMP policing services are primarily delivered through three program areas: Criminal Intelligence Branch, Federal Services and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU).

This quality police service is delivered through problem solving, education, prevention and enforcement of laws in conjunction with the RCMP Mission, Vision and Core Values. Employees of "O" Division work with client agencies, partners and communities to provide safe homes and communities.
