Quebec Beef Cattle Producers' Levies or Charges (Interprovincial and Export Trade) Order

The Fédération des producteurs de bovins du Québec, pursuant to sections 3 and 4 of the Quebec Beef Cattle Order, made by Order in Council P.C. 1992-1067 of May 21, 1992*, hereby makes the annexed Order providing for the fixing, imposing and collecting of levies or charges from producers in the Province of Quebec who are engaged in the production or marketing of beef cattle in interprovincial and export trade.

ORDER PROVIDING FOR THE FIXING, IMPOSING AND COLLECTING OF LEVIES OR CHARGES FROM PRODUCERS IN THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC WHO ARE ENGAGED IN THE PRODUCTION OR MARKETING OF BEEF CATTLE IN INTERPROVINCIAL AND EXPORT TRADE

SHORT TITLE

1. This Order may be cited as the Quebec Beef Cattle Producers' Levies or Charges (Interprovincial and Export Trade) Order.

INTERPRETATION

2. In this Order,

"beef cattle" means any beef cattle produced or marketed in the Province of Quebec; (bovin)

"buyer" means a person who acquires or receives any beef cattle from a producer, directly or through any type of auction, for the buyer's own purposes; (acheteur)

"Commodity Board" means the Fédération des producteurs de bovins du Québec; (Fédération)

"producer" means a person who breeds beef cattle in Quebec for the person's use or for others, produces them or has them produced, or markets them in any way. (producteur)

LEVIES OR CHARGES

3. Every producer shall pay to the Commodity Board, for all beef cattle produced or marketed in interprovincial and export trade, the levies or charges fixed or imposed in the following by-laws as amended from time to time:

METHOD OF PAYMENT

4. Subject to section 5, the producer shall pay every levy or charge payable pursuant to section 3 to the Commodity Board at its headquarters in Longueuil, Quebec, within the time limits set out in the by-laws referred to in that section.

5. A buyer shall deduct from the moneys payable to a producer for beef cattle all levies or charges payable by the producer to the Commodity Board under section 3 and shall remit the levies or charges directly to the Commodity Board at its headquarters in Longueuil, Quebec, in accordance with the Règlement de la Régie des marchés agricoles et alimentaires du Québec sur le prélèvement des contributions des producteurs de bovins, Gazette officielle du Québec, Part 2, March 6, 1991, p. 1389.
