NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION (NATO)

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, comprised of 26 nations, was formed for the purpose of uniting military efforts for their collective defence. The effective planning for this defence entails the exchange of CLASSIFIED information among the parties. Under the terms of the North Atlantic Treaty, member countries agree that they will protect and safeguard the CLASSIFIED information of the others, and will make every effort to ensure that they will maintain the security classifications established by any party with respect to information of that party's origin, and will safeguard such information accordingly; will not exploit such information for production for other than military purposes; and will not disclose such information to another nation without the consent of the originator.
