The world's best yacht racers evaluate their latest designs using the Yacht Dynamometer. The NRC-designed instrument is a unique, high-precision tool for analyzing how well a yacht's hull cuts through the water. The dynamometer, in yellow, is shown inside a 1:2.4 scale model of the Whitbread 60 Round the World Racer. The yacht dynamometer was also used to finesse the design of the winning entry in the 2003 America's Cup, and that team is now back to perfect their design for the 2007 race. |
