Véronique Barthet, PhD

Véronique Barthet, a native of France, obtained her bachelor's degree in biochemistry at the Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse and her diplôme d'études approfondies in biology applied to food science and bioindustries from the Université de Nancy in France. After working as a visiting research scientist at McGill University in Montréal, she obtained her doctorate in food science and agricultural chemistry from the university. She joined the Grain Research Laboratory after working in a post-doctoral position at the Centre for Indigenous Peoples' Nutrition and Environment at McGill University.

As an oilseed research scientist, Véronique Barthet is involved in research projects dealing with grain quality factors, as well as developing analytical methods to measure them. She is also involved in collaborative research projects looking at seed oxidative stability with researchers from the University of Manitoba. She is part of the Technical Advisory Group put in place by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to allocate funding for national associations to develop HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) programs. Véronique Barthet is a member of the American Oil Chemists' Society (AOCS).
