Doug DeClercq has been with the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) since 1980, when he joined the Grain Research Laboratory (GRL) as a research technician in the Oilseeds section. He was initially involved in the investigation of oilseed quality components such as glucosinolates in canola for which he developed various testing methods.
In 1985, he assumed responsibility as oilseeds chemist-in-charge of Oilseed Crop Monitoring programs. In his current position, he coordinates the analytical testing of Canadian oilseed crops through annual harvest surveys, cargo monitoring programs and plant breeders samples.
Doug DeClercq is a member of the American Oil Chemists' Society (AOCS); the Mid-Canada Section of AOAC INTERNATIONAL; the Oilseeds Subcommittee, Prairie Registration Recommending Committee for Grain; and the Western Canada Canola/Rapeseed Recommending Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba.
