Ning Wang, PhD

Research Scientist
Program Manager, Pulse Research
Grain Research Laboratory

Ning Wang joined the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) as a research scientist in March 2000. His research focuses on the factors that contribute to the quality of products derived from Canadian pulse crops and on the development of new or improved methods for measuring and assessing their end-use quality.

From 1994 to 2000, Ning Wang worked as a professional research associate at the Department of Applied Microbiology and Food Science at the University of Saskatchewan. There, he was involved in a variety of pulse research projects including pulse chemistry; processing and product development; fractionation and separation of pulses into components; characterization of component functionality; and pulse utilization.

Ning Wang received his Bachelor of Science degree from Ji Lin University in China and participated in a two-year master's program in agricultural engineering from Northeast Agricultural University in China. He holds a master's and doctorate in food science and technology from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. Before coming to Canada in 1994, he spent two years at the University of Reading as a postdoctoral fellow.
