Manitoba Turkey Marketing Levies Order

ORDER PROVIDING FOR THE FIXING, IMPOSING AND COLLECTING OF LEVIES FROM CERTAIN TURKEY PRODUCERS IN THE PROVINCE OF MANITOBA

SHORT TITLE

1. This Order may be cited as the Manitoba Turkey Marketing Levies Order.

INTERPRETATION

2. In this Order,

"Act" means The Natural Products Marketing Act (Manitoba); (Loi)

"Board" means the Manitoba Turkey Producers' Marketing Board established pursuant to the Act; (Office)

"producer" means a person engaged in the raising or keeping of turkeys in the Province of Manitoba; (producteur)

"turkey" means a turkey of any variety, grade or class raised or kept for slaughter in the Province of Manitoba. (dindon)

LEVIES

3. Every producer shall pay levies to the Board at the rate of one and one-half cents ($.015) per kilogram live weight on all turkeys marketed by him in interprovincial or export trade.

METHOD OF PAYMENT

4. (1) Subject to subsection (2), every producer shall pay the levies referred to in section 3 to the Board at its office in Winnipeg, Manitoba not later than seven days after the last day of the week in which the turkeys were sold.

(2) The levies referred to in section 3 may be deducted from the amount owed to the producer by the person who purchases the turkey and paid by the purchaser to the Board at its office in Winnipeg, Manitoba not later than seven days after the last day of the week in which the turkeys were sold.

EXCLUSION

5. This Order does not apply to the sale of turkeys less than 10 days old.
