The Canada-Saskatchewan Western Economic Partnership Agreement (WEPA) is designed to help build the province's capacity for economic growth through innovation.

This branch is responsible for economic and statistical analysis, forecasts, economic impact analysis, publications, competitiveness reviews, and federal-provincial meetings/agreements.

The Industry Development Division assists and attracts new, existing and expanding businesses, co-operatives and entrepreneurs to create and/or expand business activity in the province, and facilitates the development and capacity enhancement of community economic development organizations.
The provincial government has a new look and emphasis for its labour-sponsored venture capital program. This program is designed to help employee groups and individuals create or maintain jobs by contributing to funds that invest in small and medium Saskatchewan-based businesses.

This branch is responsible for policy analysis and solutions on a sectoral basis for key and emerging sectors of the provincial economy, along with leading in the development of a provincial economic strategy and broad-based public policies that support the vision and objectives defined in the strategy.

The Saskatchewan Market Assessment of Research and Technology (SMART) Program provides access to specialists in the emerging field of competitive intelligence. The province and the National Research Council (NRC) will each provide funding over the next two years toward the program.
