An Examination of Canadians' Attitudes on the State of National Unity : Research Reports

Description: This paper examines Canadians' attitudes towards national unity through a systematic review of public opinion data. In addition to examining general perceptions on the importance of "keeping the country together", this paper explores available data relating to the federal government's proposed constitutional package. Such data includes attitudes towards Senate reform, federal spending and opting out provisions, a social Charter, aboriginal self-government, recognition of Quebec as a "distinct society, the decision-making process and provincial versus federal jurisdiction over selected areas.
