CBA - Saskatchewan is the Saskatchewan branch of the Canadian Bar Association, an organization of lawyers formed to provide support by the profession to the profession so that it may render better service to its members and the public. This is accomplished by both education and representation to government on topics of current concern. CBA - Saskatchewan is governed by a Council consisting of elected members representing six regions of Saskatchewan. Council meets four times a year, as well as at the Annual General Meeting of the Branch. Between meetings of Council, the Executive Committee has all the powers of Council, except the power to pass by-laws, and is responsible for advising and assisting the President. The Saskatchewan Branch offers a variety of professional development opportunities. Through our Sections, we provide our members with an opportunity to meet and exchange thoughts with colleagues while offering the profession a means of keeping informed on the very latest developments in the law. In addition to Section activity, the Saskatchewan Branch holds an annual Mid-Winter Meeting which is a one day conference offering a variety of CLE sessions. Through our Committees we offer members further opportunities to become involved at both the Branch and National levels in such areas as Legislation and Law Reform and the annual Law Day initiative. The Canadian Bar Association has been in existence since 1896 and was incorporated April 15, 1921. The National Office of the Association is located in Ottawa and the staff of that office serves the National functions of the organization.
