Biography
William McIver, Jr. is a computer scientist with research interests in the areas of social informatics and community informatics. His current work is focused on understanding life-critical information needs and uses of citizens and engaging in participatory design and development of information and communication technologies (ICT) to meet those needs. He also studies human rights as they pertain to communication and ICT. Bill has served as a civil society delegate to World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). He was co-editor with Ahmed K. Elmagarmid of the IEEE Computer Special Issue on eGovernment in February 2001 and the book: Advances in Digital Government: Technology, Human Factors, and Policy (Kluwer), May 2002. He has a B.A. degree in computer science from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and a Ph.D degree in computer science from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Colorado. |
