Socially Adept Technology

The Socially Adept Technology project began in 1990 and is ongoing. Researchers perform basic research into how human social and cultural norms - including trust, morality, ethics and the expression of emotions, among others - and behaviour are incorporated into high technology.

Through this study, researchers expect to gain an understanding of social and cultural norms and to develop a framework for the application of norms in the design, creation and application of technologies.

Ultimately, research results could be applied to advanced collaborative technologies, such as the cultural Babel Fish, and have a positive impact on the travel, collaborative environments and e-commerce sectors.
