Number: AV06-021 Date: 02 August 2006 PurposeThe purpose of this advisory is to bring attention to the security vulnerabilities which have been identified in the Microsoft Windows drivers for Intel Centrino Wireless Network Connection Hardware. AssessmentIntel reports that security vulnerabilities have been identified in the Microsoft Windows drivers for the Intel® 2200BG and 2915ABG PRO/Wireless Network Connection Hardware, which could be exploited within range of the Wi-Fi station to execute arbitrary code on the target system with kernel-level privileges. These flaws are due to a memory corruption while parsing certain frames. Although there are no public reports of active exploitation or proof-of-concept code, this type of vulnerability may lead to complete system compromise.
