ONTARIO JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED




OTTAWA

, January 24, 1996 -- The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Allan Rock, today announced the following appointment:

John Desotti of Sudbury is appointed a judge of the Ontario Court (General Division) in Sarnia. He replaces Mr. Justice Meehan, who was transferred to replace Mr. Justice J.D. Bernstein, now Regional Senior Judge, Northeast Region.

Mr. Justice Desotti graduated in law from the University of Windsor in 1975, and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1977. From 1977 to 1979, he practised law with Norman G. Stoner. From 1979 to 1993, he practised law in Sudbury with the firm Best, Desotti and has since been a sole practitioner. Mr. Justice Desotti has mainly practised family law and criminal litigation.

This appointment is effective immediately.-
