, October 30, 1996 -- The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Allan Rock, today announced the following appointments:

The Honourable Madam Justice Susan Lang of Toronto is appointed Regional Senior Judge of the Ontario Court (General Division) for the Toronto Region. She replaces The Honourable Mr. Justice Archie Campbell of Toronto, who has resigned from that position and been reappointed a judge of the Ontario Court (General Division).

Madam Justice Lang graduated in law from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1974, and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1976. She was appointed to the District Court of Ontario in 1989, and to the Ontario Court (General Division) when it was created in 1990. Madam Justice Lang has been acting Regional Senior Justice for the Toronto Region since December 1995.

Mr. Justice Archie Campbell graduated in law from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1967, and received his LL.M. from the same university in 1973. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1969. Mr. Justice Campbell was appointed to the Supreme Court of Ontario in 1986 and was appointed Regional Senior Justice of the Ontario Court (General Division) Toronto Region in 1993.

These appointments are effective immediately.
