SASKATCHEWAN JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED



OTTAWA, June 20, 1996 -- The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Allan Rock, today announced the following appointments:

The Honourable Judge Patricia Mabel Blacklock Linn of Saskatoon is appointed a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench for Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. She replaces Mr. Justice G.H.M. Armstrong, who has chosen to become a supernumerary judge.

Madam Justice Linn graduated in law from the University of Saskatchewan in 1972, and was called to the Bar of Saskatchewan in 1973.

From 1974 to 1979, Madam Justice Linn practised law with the Valley Legal Assistance Clinic, and was its Director, as of 1977. She then joined the firm of Prosser, Goldenberg. From 1981 to 1986, she practised family law with the firm of Hnatyshyn & Co. Madam Justice Linn was appointed to the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan in 1986.

Madam Justice Linn was the Chairperson of the Saskatchewan Indian Review Committee and Saskatchewan Métis Review Committee in 1991-1992. She was appointed Administrative Judge for the Saskatoon Provincial Court in 1994.

Jennifer Louise Garvie Pritchard of Regina is appointed a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench for Saskatchewan in Yorkton. She replaces Mr. Justice H.A. Osborn, who retired.

Madam Justice Pritchard graduated in law from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1976, and was called to the Bar of Saskatchewan and the Bar of Ontario in 1978.

Madam Justice Pritchard has practised law with the firm of Balfour, Moss, with whom she has been a partner since 1983. She has practised corporate and commercial law with emphasis on secured transactions, oil, gas and mining law, as well as environmental law.

These appointments are effective immediately.
