NOVA SCOTIA JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED



OTTAWA, December 20, 1995 -- The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Allan Rock, today announced the following appointment:

Suzanne M. Hood of Dartmouth is appointed a judge of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Halifax. She replaces Mr. Justice N.R. Anderson, who has chosen to become a supernumerary judge.

Madam Justice Hood graduated in law from Dalhousie University in 1977, and was called to the Bar of Nova Scotia that same year. From 1977 to 1993, she practised municipal law with the firm Huestis, Holm. Since 1993, Madam Justice Hood has been a solicitor with the City of Dartmouth. Since 1990, she has been acting on the Discipline Subcommittee B of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society. From 1991 to 1994, she served on the Nova Scotia Law Foundation on behalf of the Barristers' Society.

This appointment is effective immediately.
