ONTARIO JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, June 26, 1995 -- The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, Mr. Allan Rock, today announced the following appointment:

Albert J. Roy, Q.C., of Ottawa is appointed a judge of the Ontario Court (General Division) in Cornwall. He replaces Mr. Justice J.D. O'Flynn, who has elected to become a supernumerary judge.

Mr. Justice Roy graduated in law from the University of Ottawa in 1965, and was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1967. From 1967 to 1969, Mr. Justice Roy acted as Assistant Crown Attorney for Ottawa-Carleton. From 1969 to 1985, he was associated with the firm of Gour, Guénette & Roy. He has since been associated with the firm of Vincent, Dagenais, Gour, Roy, mainly practising civil litigation. In 1985 and 1986, he acted as Chair of the Ottawa-Carleton French Language Association Advisory Committee.

Mr. Justice Roy was a member of the Ontario Legislature from 1971 to 1984. He has been President of l'Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario.

This appointment is effective immediately.
