SASKATCHEWAN JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED
OTTAWA, February 25, 2005 Irwin Cotler, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:
Grant M. Currie, of Saskatoon, is appointed a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of Saskatchewan. He will be assigned to Saskatoon by the Chief Justice and will replace Mr. Justice I. Goldenberg who has elected to become a supernumerary judge.
Mr. Justice Currie received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Saskatchewan in 1980, and was admitted to the Law Society of Saskatchewan in 1981.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Justice Currie was a partner with the firm Robertson Stromberg Pedersen, where he practised primarily in civil litigation. He was also Chair of his firm's Management Committee in Saskatoon and former Head of the Litigation Group.
In the past, Mr. Justice Currie has lectured and presented papers to many organizations including the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association and the Saskatchewan Legal Education Society. He was an instructor at the Bar Admission course and has acted as Secretary of the Saskatoon Bar Association.
This appointment is effective immediately.
