BRITISH COLUMBIA JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, June 3, 2005 – Irwin Cotler, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

The Honourable Pamela A. Kirkpatrick of Vancouver is appointed a judge of the Court of Appeal of British Columbia.

Madam Justice Kirkpatrick received a Bachelor of Arts in 1971 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1977, both from the University of British Columbia . She was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1978.

She was first appointed to the Supreme Court of British Columbia in 1992. Prior to her appointment to the bench, she had been a Master of the Supreme Court of British Columbia since 1989.

This appointment is effective immediately.
