MANITOBA JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, February 17, 1999 -- The Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

Donald P. Bryk, Q.C., of Winnipeg, is appointed a Judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of Manitoba in Dauphin. He replaces Mr. Justice Kenneth J. Galanchuck who has resigned.

Mr. Justice Bryk graduated in law from the University of Manitoba in 1969 and was called to the Bar of Manitoba in 1970. Mr Justice Bryk then joined the firm known today as Myers, Weinberg, Kussin, Weinstein, Bryk with which he has been a partner since 1977 and has mainly practised civil litigation, real estate and wills and estate law.

This appointment is effective immediately.
