MINISTER ROCK APPROVES $180,098 FOR SOCIÉTÉ QUÉBÉCOISE D'INFORMATION JURIDIQUE (SOQUIJ)

OTTAWA, October 25, 1996 -- Allan Rock, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, announced today that he has approved a contribution of $180,098 for the fiscal year 1996-1997 to the Société québécoise d'information juridique (SOQUIJ). This contribution will assist the SOQUIJ to provide legal information to the public via the telephone in both French and English.

"Access to the law depends on knowledge, and SOQUIJ is one of our front line resources in assisting the public to direct their legal concerns in the most effective way. I am delighted to have had the opportunity to approve this financial contribution to support their operations," said Minister Rock.
