APPOINTMENT TO THE FEDERAL COURT OF CANADA

OTTAWA, March 27, 2003 -- The Honourable Martin Cauchon, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

Mireille A. Tabib, of Montreal is appointed a prothonotary of the Federal Court of Canada in the Ottawa Local Office.

Ms. Tabib received her LL.B. from University of Montreal in 1987 and an LL.M. from Cambridge University, England in 1989. She was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1988. At the time of her appointment, Ms. Tabib was a lawyer with the firm of Stikeman Elliot in Montreal practicing primarily in maritime law, air, rail and road transportation law and commercial insurance law. For the past several years, she has appeared frequently before the Federal Court of Canada.
Ms. Tabib is a member of the Canadian Maritime Law Association, the Association of Maritime Arbitrators of Canada and the Association of Women in Insurance of Montreal.
