ONTARIO JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED
OTTAWA, June 19, 2003 -- The Honourable Martin Cauchon,
Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following
appointments:
Robert A. Clark of Toronto is appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Justice,
and will be assigned to Whitby by the Chief Justice.
Mr. Justice Clark received a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School
in 1982, and was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1984. He was
also admitted to the Law Society of British Columbia in 1994.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Justice Clark was Crown Attorney for Toronto-East.
He has been an Instructor of the Bar Admission Course for the Law Society of
Upper Canada, a member of the Executive Committee of the Criminal Law Section
of the Ontario Bar Association, as well as a frequent lecturer and panellist
for various associations, including the Ontario Bar Association.
David L. Corbett of Toronto
is appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Justice, and will be assigned
to Milton by the Chief Justice.
Mr. Justice Corbett received a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode
Hall Law School in 1985, and was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada
in 1987.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Justice Corbett was a partner
with the firm Eberts Symes Street Corbett & Pinto where he practised primarily
in the area of civil litigation, with related work in administrative and constitutional
law matters.
Mr. Justice Corbett has been Adjunct Professor and Instructor at Osgoode Hall
Law School, the University of Toronto, and the University of Western Ontario,
as well as Instructor of the Bar Admission Course. He is the author of several
articles related to equality rights and sexual orientation and the law, in addition
to construction law and civil litigation matters.
These appointments are effective immediately.
