Security and PrivacyCanadian Information Security Support Network (CISSN)The NRC Institute for Information Technology (NRC-IIT) collaborative research project, Canadian Information Security Support Network (CISSN), began in December 2002 and involves two of the Institute's research groups: the Information Security Group and the Human Web Group. The CISSN project is aimed at developing a web-based service for information exchange regarding research and development collaboration in the area of Information Security (IS) across Canada. The CISSN will be an efficient way of networking and partnering to create strategic alliances when dealing with current and emerging research issues related to information security. It will form a valuable resource for NRC Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) Industrial Technology Advisors and Industry Canada analysts, as well as for those doing similar work in research companies and other government and non-government organizations such as the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATA); Communications and Information Technology Ontario (CITO) and CANARIE, Inc. In the first phase of the project, researchers are developing a CISSN database and a number of tools to provide a means for IS researchers and developers to share and exchange information in a rapid, effective and secure manner. In the next phase, the CISSN will develop into sophisticated computer supported collaborative work environments that will allow IS researchers to collaborate online. It will include tools to enable anonymous brokering and to maintain virtual partnerships. The CISSN will be an invaluable resource for all those who work or have an interest in information security, nationally and internationally. It is expected to have a significant impact in the large field of information security, in both industry and the public sector. Research ContactLarry Korba Business ContactDr. George Forester |
